Durgā Mātā: Inviting Divine Strength into Your Life
In the yogic tradition, Durgā Mātā is honored as the luminous force of protection, courage, wisdom, and divine strength. She is the Cosmic Mother who helps us navigate life's difficulties and reminds us that we are never without support.
Durgā, the consort of Lord Shiva, represents cosmic energy itself, Pure Śakti, the dynamic power that sustains, protects, and transforms the universe. She is often depicted riding a lion or avtiger, symbolizing fearlessness and mastery over the forces that seek to overwhelm us.
For thousands of years, devotees have chanted to Durgā to honor her presence and to invite her guidance, protection, and strength into their lives.
The Value of Drawing Durgā Mātā Near
When our lives become connected with the luminous force of Durgā, we ourselves begin to embody her qualities. By her grace, we cultivate patience, grounding, understanding, discernment, and the capacity to remain with inner stillness.
These are not small qualities to develop.
They are life-transforming.
For example, when patience becomes established in us, life begins to flow differently. Challenges still arise, but we don’t get tossed about by every difficulty.
Without patience, each obstacle can feel overwhelming. With patience established, we are able to meet life's challenges with wisdom, steadiness, and strength.
The practice of honoring Durgā Mātā, at its core, is a practice of extending respect, contemplating, and remembering her divine strength.
